Dear Parents and children who are year-round
residents of Castine, Penobscot and Brooksville:
The Castine Golf Club, with support from the Hatch Community Youth Fund, is pleased to offer summer scholarships in sailing, tennis, and golf beginning June 24th and continuing until August 16th. The attached form MUST be returned to PO Box 34, Castine, ME 04421 or to the Golf Pro Shop on Battle Avenue in Castine by Monday, June 17th to be eligible. You may sign up for sailing lessons online at castineyachtclub.org, junior programs, with a payment option of scholarship, but you also must return the attached scholarship form. The junior programs are available to residents of Castine, Penobscot and Brooksville for children who have completed first grade and up. There will also be three junior golf membership scholarships to children who have shown a desire to play golf. These scholarships will enable children to play golf on the course at no charge, participate in tournaments, and other golf activities. Tennis clinics will be offered as well as opportunities to play tennis independently following clinics as courts are available. All times and ages for activities are on the website at Castinegolfclub.com or castineyachtclub.org. More information is available by calling 326-8844.
Originally Rec Week was meant to be an introduction to activities that children may not have experienced before as an introduction to see if they wanted to continue in that specific sport. The past few years, almost all the children had participated in the scholarship programs previously and were much advanced from the activities offered in Rec Week. We will not be offering Rec Week to everyone, but will add extra clinics and lessons to the few children who have never participated before in Castine Golf Club activities during the week of June 24th. We hope to award scholarships to every eligible child who applies.
Thank you for your application.
